Before I was a Mom

26 Jul
Before I was a Mom…
I made and ate hot meals.
I had unstained clothing.
I had quiet conversations on the phone.

Before I was a Mom…
I slept as late as I wanted.
And never worried about how late I got
into bed.
I brushed my hair and my teeth every day.

Before I was a Mom…
I cleaned my house each day.
I never tripped over toys or forgot words
to lullabies.

Before I was a Mom…
I didn’t’t worry whether or not my plants
were poisonous.
I never thought about immunisations.

Before I was Mom…
I had never been puked on,
Pooped on,
Spat on,
Chewed on,
Peed on,
Or pinched by tiny fingers.

Before I was a Mom…
I had complete control of my mind,
My thoughts.
My body,
And my time.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom…
I never held down a screaming child,
So that doctors could do tests,
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and
cried.
I never got gloriously happy over
a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours
at night
Watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom…
I never held a sleeping baby just because.
I didn’t want to put it down.
I never felt my heart break into a million
pieces.
When I couldn’t stop the the hurt.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom…
I didn’t know the feeling of having my
heart outside my body.
I didn’t  know how special it could feel to
feed a hungry baby.
I didn’t know that bond between a mother
and her child.
I didn’t know that something so small
Could make me feel so important.

Before I was a Mom…
I had never risen in the middle of the night .
Every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
The joy,
The love,
The heartache,
The wonderment,
Or the satisfaction of being a
Mom.
I didn’t know I was capable
of feeling so
Much before I was a Mom!

Evangeline Ann Maulucci

14 May

Well, she has finally arrived! Our beautiful baby girl was born on May 2, 2011 at 1:48am. She weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces and was 21 inches long. We named her Evangeline Ann. Ann is after her Grandma Broughton and we just liked Evangeline. :) She is the picture of health and is doing wonderfully.  She is the prettiest, most well behaved baby we have ever met (not that we’re biased or anything) :) and still cannot believe that she is ours! God has truly blessed us. We are very excited to be a family of 3 now and all of us are adjusting nicely. Thank you to our friends and family for all of the love, support, gifts, and food! It has made the last few weeks so  much easier on us.

My labor went well and I’m almost back to my old self (plus several extra pounds and stretch marks..but we’ll fix that asap :) ). On Sunday morning we woke up, went to church like normal, and when we got home I told Josh that I was in labor. I relaxed around the house, took a shower, and rested as much as I could (I also packed my hospital bag) :) We waited to go the hospital until my contractions were about 5-4 minutes apart. Josh made it in record time  and once we got there things started to go pretty quickly (as far as labor goes). Needless to say I was so very thrilled when around 1am I was allowed to start pushing and less than an hour later I had my beautiful Evie in my arms. Our hospital stay was great. I enjoyed being spoiled by the nurses, especially Connie who was the day nurse both days. :) We came home on Wednesday, May 4 and have been enjoying our little girl every minute of every day.

On Sunday we made it to church and had Evie dedicated in the baby dedication day. I pray that God will use her in a great way and that as her parents we wont stand in his way. Sunday was also Mother’s Day. It seemed odd that people kept tellling me “Happy Mother’s Day”. I kept thinking that today is a day for Moms, not me. :) Josh bought me flowers and my newest favorite dessert from Strack’s, a devil dog.  I’m also told I have something coming in the mail….

Well, I think I must go kiss my chubby cheeked girl some more!

Just Waiting….

21 Apr

Well, her clothes are washed and put away, her bed is made, her car seat and diaper bag waiting to be grabbed, her diapers are stacked, her room is all ready! Now all we need is our little baby girl! (Who doesn’t seem so little these days as she is takes up more and more space in my belly!) :)   There is only a week and a 1/2 until her expected due date and we are hoping that she makes an early entrance into this world…but we wouldn’t be surprised if she is a stubborn one (which she would get from the Maulucci side not the Broughton side, of course :) ) and comes late just to make us wait that much longer.

Thank you to everyone who has had a part in helping us get ready for our baby! We are overwhelmed by the amount of gifts and love we have received and are so thankful. We had 2 beautiful showers (thanks again Mom B and Summer)! So many gifts arrive in the mail and dozens and dozens of encouraging notes. We truly have the best family and friends! This baby is already so spoiled and blessed! Well…we will be posting pictures and her name as soon as she decides to join us in the outside world (today would be a good day, baby girl….)! We love you all! :)

PS. We also added more pictures to the photo gallery “Our Baby”

List of Baby items

02 Mar

People have been asking me about registering and what they can get the baby; We have registered at www.walmart.com. (http://www.walmart.com/giftregistry/gr_detail.do?registryId=86170071021) I know many people aren’t fond of registries, so I also compiled a list of some items that she could use. We don’t mind second-hand things! Under “comments” is a list of baby clothes that we have received/bought. We have received a bunch of larger size clothes and still could use 0-3 months! :)   (*Please note: We will not be putting her in any pants outfits. Thank you!)
